SEG Cricket recruits its athletes from those young people recommended to us by our network of schools, grass roots clubs and professional academies.

Those young people selected receive the highest quality coaching, mentoring and guidance led by coaches and players who have coached and/or played at the pinnacle of the game led by our Director of Cricket Mark Butcher (England and Surrey).

SEG Cricket consists of coaching clinics one night per week for a block of 10 weeks. SEG Cricket runs four 10 week blocks per year.

Cricket Training Syllabus

Each SEG Cricket session will endeavour to combine at least one element from each of the fours corners of the syllabus set out below

Skill Development - Technical and Tactical

Batting

  • Batting Drills.
  • Net practice.
  • Bowling machine work.
  • Placement.
  • Playing spin bowling.
  • Power Hitting.
  • Game awareness during Net practices and Indoor games.
  • Super strengths, strengths and weaknesses.

Bowling

  • Bowling Action analysis & improvement plan.
  • Line and Length - swing and seam.
  • Variations - slower balls / yorkers’ etc.
  • Spin bowling.
  • Fielding positions & Game plans.
  • Super strengths, strengths and weaknesses.

Fielding & Wicket keeping

  • Warm up Games.
  • Fielding/ Keeping drills & games.
  • Catching.
  • Agility & movement.
  • Game awareness.
  • Super strengths, strengths and weaknesses.

Mental

  • Teamwork during practice.
  • Enjoyment.
  • Self-belief & confidence.
  • Thought processes - before, during and after training.
  • Focus during training.
  • Work ethic & training techniques.

  • U11 to U13 18.15 - 19.45.
